Florida Realtor.org just did an article on a new trend in marketing an ugly home’s curb appeal which may begin or end at the curb. More real estate agents are bringing a dose of reality to their listing descriptions, if it is an eyesore, hoping that ugly ducklings might attract a buyer.
According to realtor.com – a small but growing number of listings are advertised as “ugly homes,” complete with descriptions of the home as “dirty” or the “worst in the neighborhood” another advertised as “We have the winner in the ugly-house contest, it needs everything, starting with soap and water. because of it’s horrendous condition, you’ll have the opportunity for the buy of a life time.
“Is Ugly the new beautiful when selling a home?” another – “Worst Home in Best Neighborhood”.
These are eye catching headlines and this reverse psychology seems to work.
